Anna Kournikova, born 7 June 1981, became one of the most popular tennis players and truly became a celebrity. Her popularity was so high that her name became one of the most common search strings on Google. Anna sprang to international fame in 1995 when she became the Junior World Champion U-18 and junior European Champion U-18. Kournikova got the 8th rank in singles in 2000. But she rose to rank 1 in doubles. Partnering with another great star Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova won the doubles title twice at the Australian Open, in 1999 and 2002. Very soon, serious back and spinal problems put an abrupt end to her tennis career.
